Despite MLB opposition… Next WBC again ‘Spring held’ Dominica & Puerto Power

Despite the opposition of MLB, the next WBC is also expected to be held in the spring.

The 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC) ended with Japan winning the WBC final between the United States and Japan held on the 22nd (Korean time) at Londipo Park in Miami, Florida, USA.

On the same day, according to the Associated Press, a local media outlet in the United States, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said, “March is the right time to open the WBC.”

From the first tournament in 2006 to the 2009, 2013, 2017, and 2023 WBC tournaments, all were held in March. 

However, there was opposition due to the point that the WBC finals were concerned about the deterioration of the condition of the big league clubs and players preparing for the major league regular season.

Nevertheless, Commissioner Manfred drew a line, saying,안전놀이터 “We discussed opening mid-season and after the playoffs, but there is no perfect time. March is the most appropriate reason.”

Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic are likely to be the next WBC venues.

The size of the tournament is expected to increase as the number of participating countries has increased to 20 and the public interest has been raised by moving it to after the World Series (WS).
